School-Based Health Centers: Keeping students healthy and ready to learn

School-based health centers (SBHC), like my office example above, make it much easier for students to get primary healthcare. SBHCs bring care to where the students are with the goal of removing barriers to healthcare access. They are particularly important in communities that lack primary care providers or have a large number of low income, uninsured or underinsured children or adolescents.

Striving Together Report Card

The Strive Partnership outcome indicators represent a snapshot of local education data from birth through college for the urban core of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region. Please use caution when attempting to make comparisons across the data. In some cases data is comparable, but the intent of reporting is to put the data out there, stimulate discussion and help us to identify additional data that is needed as well as support to affect the outcome.

Beyond Grantmaking: Philanthropic Foundations as Agents of Change and Institutional Entrepreneurs

Studies examining the role of philanthropic foundations in advancing social change have primarily focused on the impact of foundations’ financial resources, but few scholars have analyzed how foundations also leverage social mechanisms to advance and legitimate desired change. We conceptualize philanthropic foundations as agents of change, known as institutional entrepreneurs, to illuminate the social mechanisms they employ in pursuit of institutional change.
