Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland seeks a visionary and results driven leader who is responsible for creating an atmosphere for the Board, staff and volunteers to succeed in meeting the mission of the organization.  The successful candidate will be an experienced professional with a strong track record of achievement in a leadership position.

Leadership and Management

  • Develops a vision and strategic plan with the Board to guide the organization
  • Identifies, assesses and informs the Board of internal and external factors that affect the organization
  • Communicates effectively and timely to Board, staff and volunteers
  • Fosters effective teamwork and a positive culture with the Board, staff and volunteers
  • Represents the organization as a spokesperson and participates in community activities to enhance the organization’s community profile
  • Determines staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery
  • Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent and qualified staff
  • Coaches and mentors staff to develop skillsets and/or improve performance

 Community Engagement and Collaboration

  • Understand the needs and priorities of clients and community stakeholders and responds to the needs by meeting or exceeding expectations
  • Organizes and/or participates in community collaborations, task forces or committees that will advance  the mission of the organization

 Program Planning and Implementation

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of programs and services that carry out the organization’s mission
  • Monitors the day-to-day delivery of programs and services of the organization to maintain or improve quality

 Financial Planning and Management

  • Develops a comprehensive annual budget 
  • Approves expenditures within the authority delegated by the Board
  • Administers programs and administrative activities in a cost effective manner, and within budget constraints
  • Ensures that sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed
  • Provides Board with comprehensive, regular reports on revenues, expenditures and cash flow
  • Ensures that organization is in compliance with local, state and federal funding and spending guidelines Fund Development
  • Creates plans to target resources and secures diverse and sustainable funding streams
  • Researches funding sources and writes/approves funding proposals for the organization
  • Cultivates relationships with current and potential funders
  • Oversees the planning and implementation of special events

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • 10 year’s experience working in a senior leadership position
  • Visioning and Strategic Planning skills
  • Fundraising and Program Development experience
  • Proficient with understanding financial statements and the impacts of financial decisions on an organization   
  • Experience managing, coaching and leading a team
  • Experience interfacing and engaging with diverse volunteer and donor groups
  • Experience working with government agencies preferred
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles related to non-profit organizations
  • Knowledge of community challenges and opportunities related to the mission of an organization
  • Knowledge of human resources, financial and project management 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets
  • Ability to travel (with valid driver’s license and reliable transportation)
