On May 14, the Scioto Foundation, Portsmouth’s local foundation, celebrates its 50th anniversary of philanthropy and service to the area. 

‘Who’s Hungry?’ The new project, supported by the Yellow Springs Community Foundation, provides free food to all those in need.

Developed through a collaborative effort between the Community Foundation of Lorain County, Leadership Lorain County and, VolunteerConnect aims to streamline the process of connecting potential volunteers with nonprofits.

Brick Gardens, a nonprofit founded by Domonique Peebles, is trying to eliminate those food deserts one neighborhood at a time, and recently, the Greater Cincinnati Foundation’s ‘Boots on the Ground’ fund awarded Peebles a $15K grant to continue his work.

Cleveland Metroparks is making strides on recent grant-funded initiatives and will utilize $8M of the Jack, Joseph and Morton  Mandel Foundation grant to refurbish the southern side of Gordon Park. 

Montgomery County will honor fallen officers with a new law enforcement memorial; two local police chiefs are working with the Dayton Foundation and hope to break ground on the memorial in the fall.

Lynette Forde, president of The Youngstown Foundation, and Guy Coviello, CEO and president of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, joined Alexa Sweeney Blackann for a panel discussion about regional development.
Clark County students shared advocacy and prevention work at the Be The Change summit, which featured awards sponsored by the Wilson Sheehan Foundation and The Springfield Foundation. 

The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. Foundation is one of the local Special Event Sponsors of CNU 32, the Congress for the New Urbanism’s annual Congress event.

The Bryan Area Foundation donated $200K to help the Bryan Athletic Boosters with phase two of an athletics capital improvement project.

The George Gund Foundation granted $200K to Cuyahoga County to expand its First CALL mental health response program.

The Nationwide Foundation gifts $100M to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for their “Empower the Possible” campaign.

The private Harold W. and Anna Huffman Foundation is entrusted to the Fairfield Community Foundation, creating the “Harold W. and Anna Huffman Fund” valued at more than $1M.

The Northern Cincinnati Foundation’s “Educator of Excellence” awards were given to three Lakota district teachers.

WTOL 11 to award community nonprofits with grants through the TEGNA Foundation. 

After nearly a year of renovations, Norfolk Southern donated the historic train depot near the corner of North Market Street and West Taggart Street to the village of East Palestine.

Matthew 25 received a grant from the Adams County Community Foundation through the Daniel Niblick Family Community Enrichment Fund. 

Rittman’s Chamber of Commerce recently was awarded a $18K community grant through the Wayne County Community Foundation.

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation recently announced nearly $260K in literacy grants to Ohio nonprofit organizations, libraries and schools.

Erie County Community Foundation awards over $287K in scholarships to Erie County Students. 

The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio awarded 11 grants totaling more than $35K to support K-12 civics education opportunities throughout the region.

The Richland County Foundation approved $62K in Summertime Kid grants to support summer activities for children.
