Your website might look fabulous, but do you know if people are actually visiting it? Web analytics can help reveal how much traffic your site is getting and how people are finding it. You can also use analytics to see how long people are staying on your site and which pages are the most popular. There are also analytics tools that look at your social media presence, such as how many people are visiting your site from Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Our most recent research on nonprofit leaders, Nonprofit Challenges: What Foundations Can Do, shows that only 52 percent of nonprofits believe that their foundation funders are aware of the challenges their organizations are facing. Our data also shows that the more open nonprofits feel they can be with their funders about their challenges, the more aware their funders are of their challenges—no surprise there.

Since 2005, more than 1,200 young people in 25 counties involved with NCYGN have given 90,000 hours of service and raised more than $400,000 in community funds. And after eight years of engaging young people across the state in philanthropic giving from Watauga to Wilmington, many of the adults behind the scenes have learned a couple of valuable lessons when it comes down to connecting and cultivating youth giving.
