In 2006, the San Francisco Symphony was one of seven major California arts organizations awarded grants from the Arts Innovation Fund, a then-new initiative of The James Irvine Foundation designed to support innovation and change among the state’s large cultural institutions.
Research on diversity in organizations has largely focused on the implications of gender and ethnic differences for performance, to the exclusion of other outcomes. We propose that gender and ethnic differences also have implications for workplace charitable giving, an important aspect of corporate social responsibility.
