School-Based Health Centers: Keeping students healthy and ready to learn

School-based health centers (SBHC), like my office example above, make it much easier for students to get primary healthcare. SBHCs bring care to where the students are with the goal of removing barriers to healthcare access. They are particularly important in communities that lack primary care providers or have a large number of low income, uninsured or underinsured children or adolescents.

Map the Meal Gap, Food Insecurity in your County

These maps reflect 2009 - 2012 data. Feeding America first published the Map the Meal Gap project in early 2011, with the generous support of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation and The Nielsen Company, to learn more about the face of hunger at the local level. In August, 2011, with the support of the ConAgra Foods Foundation, child food insecurity data was added to the project. The maps below reflect 2009-2011 data*, and will be updated every year with new data.
