Ohio has a strong tradition of charitable giving, starting with the creation of the first community foundation in the world as well as thousands of private foundations, federated funds and corporations as well as millions of individuals. Each year, Philanthropy Ohio researches, analyzes and presents the most recent data on Ohio’s individual and organizational giving in our Ohio Gives report.
On behalf of our communities, thank you for everything you have done to support your colleagues, your neighbors and your community partners this past year. We’re grateful for your participation in this statewide network for funders and are pleased to present this glance back at 2022.
Reflecting on the past year and how much our collective work has changed, we are heartened by how you strengthened meaningful collaborations and skills, built genuine relationships, engaged in important policywork and authentically centered equity.
Philanthropy Ohio is the network that links funder members to their peers across the state, forming a broad, strong group of people to tap into for experience, advice and to build relationships. Bringing people together is something we do really well through our funder peer groups organized by issue, geography and giving structure.
This broader awakening of privileged people to see and want to change the ugly and relentless reality of institutionalized racism—that extinguishes hope, breaks spirits, limits potential, and steals futures—has been a long time in coming. And it must not fade from view.
Connect with fellow Ohio funders about the challenges and possibilities and identify opportunities to collaborate. Get the mentoring and training you need and be reassured you’re doing things in the best way possible. You have the ability to become the funder you envision and seek to be.
Leading and supporting philanthropic work to center racial equity, we bring training, tools, inspiration and conversations to our members, holding space for peer sharing and cohort learning and expanding to include other marginalized identities and issues.
Elevate your work, grow in your career, exercise your leadership and demonstrate your expertise among your peers. When you join a committee, connect with a peer group or participate in a policy initiative, not only are you giving back to the sector, but you’re also gaining valuable skills and relationships.
