The annual Philanthropy Awards celebrate the contributions of outstanding Ohio philanthropists, specifically those in the sector who have made significant contributions to philanthropy in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging; as an emerging leader; through innovation; or a lifetime of work.
This community foundation listserv query gathers information on how community foundations market to scholarship students who are not in high school.
Philanthropy Ohio’s Education Initiative coalition has developed a series of targeted briefing papers aimed at helping the state’s early childhood, K-12 and post-secondary education leaders, elected officials and other key stakeholders plot a clear direction for the future of education and improved student success. It is our hope that these briefing papers will help guide Ohio leaders during upcoming policy discussions, including Ohio’s next budget.
Thousands of women are engaged in current-day philanthropy through Women’s Funds, often organized within community foundations and sometimes as separate organizations. Many share a common focus and goal of empowering the lives of women and girls, often with a focus on those whose voices are unheard and whose lives lack opportunities.
View and download resources from the February Health Initiative Meeting, which provided an overview of the state’s budget as it relates to investments in the health and wellness of Ohioans. The Ohio Department of Education presented data on how Student Wellness and Success dollars was used toward mental health and in-school health programming. Health Policy Institute of Ohio staff presented their Eliminating Racial Disparities in Infant Mortality report. We also heard from the Ohio Department of Health about their health priorities, COVID-19 vaccinations and how the philanthropic sector can be a partner.
Today is the National Day for Racial Healing, the annual observance created by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in 2017 and observed every year on the Tuesday following Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It is a time for contemplation and collective action on #HowWeHeal from the effects of racism and an opportunity to bring ALL people together in their common humanity and inspire collective action to create a more just and equitable world.
Connect with fellow Ohio funders about the challenges and possibilities and identify opportunities to collaborate. Get the mentoring and training you need and be reassured you’re doing things in the best way possible. You have the ability to become the funder you envision and seek to be.
Leading and supporting philanthropic work to center racial equity, we bring training, tools, inspiration and conversations to our members, holding space for peer sharing and cohort learning and expanding to include other marginalized identities and issues.
Elevate your work, grow in your career, exercise your leadership and demonstrate your expertise among your peers. When you join a committee, connect with a peer group or participate in a policy initiative, not only are you giving back to the sector, but you’re also gaining valuable skills and relationships.
