This program is a part of our Midwest Partnership Series, a collaboration between Philanthropy Ohio, Indiana Philanthropy Alliance, Council of Michigan Foundations, Iowa Council of Foundations and Philanthropy Missouri.

Community foundation leaders are often asked to navigate legal challenges, and it can be difficult to understand the unique rules, regulations, and jargon in the field. Designed for community foundation CEOs and key leaders, this virtual program will provide practical guidance on the legal concepts that shape fund management and organizational decision-making.

The program will begin by covering a few key legal basics, including variance power, UPMIFA, the Pension Protection Act, and more. Following a break for lunch, we will dive into the components of fund agreements and considerations for different types of funds. The program will also explore when and how to make changes to fund agreements properly. Led by Heather Moore and Manny McMiller of Faegre Drinker, the program will break down complex topics into concepts that make sense, and it will include case studies and opportunities for Q&A.

Continuing Education: Faegre Drinker intends to apply for CLE credit for this program. At this time, no applications have been submitted or are pending. Credit approval is determined by the applicable state bar or accrediting CLE board, and updated information on CLE credit will be provided before the event.

This webinar is offered as part of the Midwest Partnership.
