Navigating AI as a Philanthropic Leader Series

Join us for a practical four-part workshop that explores the fundamentals of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and helps you develop the insights and skills needed to lead effectively in this rapidly evolving field. Generative AI is increasingly impacting philanthropic work, raising important questions about trust, accountability and impact. This workshop will equip you with the tools necessary to stay informed and lead confidently, empowering you to leverage technology to advance your mission.   

The series consists of four virtual 90-minute sessions from July to September 2026. Each session will blend instruction, facilitated dialogue and peer learning. This workshop is available to Philanthropy Ohio members as part of our Midwest Partnership Series and is hosted by the Iowa Council of Foundations. Participants will represent the states involved in this collaborative effort.  

Participants are eligible to receive a digital badge through the consultant’s certification partner.

• Session 1: Tuesday, July 28, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EST 
• Session 2: Tuesday, August 11, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EST 
• Session 3: Tuesday, August 25, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EST 
• Session 4: Tuesday, September 8, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EST

Who should attend 

• Foundation staff interested in building a foundational understanding of AI and its implications.  
• Management staff considering how to ethically incorporate AI solutions.   

As part of participation in this cohort, each organization will be asked to complete a brief assessment of its current use of AI in philanthropy. The assessment will be distributed on July 6 and due by July 15. Registrants will be asked to complete a quick pre-event survey to choose the best contact for the assessment. This series is highly individualized and interactive. Please plan your time to be actively engaged and on camera in each session during the live training time. This program is a collaboration between Philanthropy Ohio, Philanthropy Missouri and the Iowa Council of Foundations, so participants will come from multiple states for this series. The Iowa Council of Foundations will host the meeting, but you should reach out to the Philanthropy Ohio team with any questions.
