Position Summary

The Vice President of Development and Communications is a senior management position within Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry (LMM); an established and innovative nonprofit focusing on workforce development, housing and shelter, and health and wellness. This position makes an essential contribution to LMM’s mission through leadership in resource development, strategic communication and public relations.

The role builds on a recognized quality reputation to distinguish and elevate a brand and to further a dynamic public relations platform through highly visible and valued community development and social service. This position will collaborate with colleagues recognized as leaders in their fields and lead a talented, motivated team of resource development and communications professionals.

Some of the duties include:

  • Develops and tends key relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporations, community leaders and organizations, and ecumenical and interfaith partners
  • Leads donor cultivation efforts and maintains a portfolio of major donors
  • Engages and builds a central database of donors, prospects and community contacts
  • Leads a 2018-2019 $3.5M capital campaign inclusive of a $2M housing project goal.
  • Manages public relations and strategic communications efforts including broadcast, print and social media, and other platforms.

  • Provides a lead ambassadorial role in the community through participation in public events and speaking opportunities.
  • Creates and implements a multi-year plan for resource development and strategic communications in support of the agency, its programs and community needs.
  • Maintains high standards of ethical and professional conduct in terms of privacy of client information and adherence to confidentiality policies.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred; previous experience in non-profit resource development and public relations, including experience with capital campaigns, major gifts, and foundations.  Demonstrated success in fundraising for annually stated goals and campaigns, required.
