View and download resources from the February Health Initiative Meeting, which provided an overview of the state’s budget as it relates to investments in the health and wellness of Ohioans. The Ohio Department of Education presented data on how Student Wellness and Success dollars was used toward mental health and in-school health programming. Health Policy Institute of Ohio staff presented their Eliminating Racial Disparities in Infant Mortality report. We also heard from the Ohio Department of Health about their health priorities, COVID-19 vaccinations and how the philanthropic sector can be a partner.
Preschool Promise has seen an increase in the number of children attending quality preschools in Montgomery County in the last five years with more work to be done.
The September meeting reviewed and reflected on Philanthropy Ohio's policy engagement and partnerships since the Education Initiative began in 2005. Attendees of this working session provided input as we refresh and refocus our education policy agenda for the next biennium. Shaun Yoder, the Ohio Department of Education’s former chief strategy officer & director of external partnerships, discussed the impact of Philanthropy Ohio’s collaborative work and stakeholder engagement. Executive in Residence Claudia Herrold facilitated a strategic conversation to identify vital education policy issues, accomplishments, remaining work and opportunities for impact.
