Convene in person for our Equity Summit to better understand how your investments to advance racial equity intersect with your communications strategy. Hear from Ohio Bar Association Director of Inclusion and Outreach Jocelyn Armstrong, Esq., and gain an appreciation for how to use and adapt language in your work that advances racial equity in your community. Reflect on your morning workshop with peers in our network on your current approach to managing your organization’s language.

9:45 a.m. – Welcome & Introductions 

10 a.m. – Part I: Preference, Bias, Prejudice & Privilege Workshop

Words are powerful and meaningful. This session will explore terms, phrases and language around diversity, equity and inclusion and how to have meaningful conversations in this space. 

11:15 a.m. – Part II: Inclusive Communications Workshop

The work of philanthropy is relationship-driven and requires nuanced skills to drive meaningful communication with all stakeholders. Your message is as important as the message you portray. You will learn techniques that help you to bridge divides and have inclusive and effective communication.  

12:15 p.m. – Lunch & Networking 

Enjoy lunch with peers invested in building more equitable philanthropy around the state.  

12:45 p.m. – Peer Reflection & Conversation 

Reflect on your learnings alongside your colleagues. Share your own organization’s approach and gain insights from peers during the last hour of peer-led conversation.  

1:30 p.m. – Event Close
