About the Organization

Established in 2018, the Pallottine Foundation of Huntington continues the caring legacy of the Pallottine Missionary Sisters in the tristate community. The Foundation supports transformative health initiatives that empower all individuals to lead lives of optimal health, self-reliance, and self-respect, and fosters systemic change and collaborative impact in our community. Through the Foundation, the Sisters are ensuring a continuum of care and outreach for the 20 counties they have served for over 100 years.

Job Description

Position Summary:

Guided by the mission and vision of the Pallottine Foundation of Huntington, the Program Officer will advance initiatives that impact the Foundation’s health focus areas through work that fosters dignified access to services, meets people where they are, and cares for the health of the whole person. The Program Officer’s central responsibility is to build and maintain collaborative relationships with nonprofit organizations, community members, and other partners across the Foundation’s region. The Program Officer is entrusted with understanding the unique needs, challenges, and opportunities within the Foundation’s footprint and how to best steward funds to improve the overall health and wellbeing of the community.

The Program Officer guides nonprofit organizations through the entire grant process, including concept development, presentation of proposals, implementation of project, and evaluation of the outcomes. The Program Officer also collaborates with Foundation team and Board of Trustees to develop, guide, and implement Foundation-led initiatives, responsive efforts, and strategic collaborations. The Program Officer will report to the Senior Program Officer for Mission and Strategy but will work closely with each member of the Foundation’s small staff team. 

In accordance with the Foundation’s shared staffing structure, a small percentage of the Program Officer’s time will be devoted to providing program support to the Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and implement program and grantmaking strategies that support the Foundation’s mission and vision.
  • Lead in-depth and critical analysis of proposals through due diligence and research to ensure responsible stewardship of the Foundation’s investment. 
  • Educate and inform the board through written and oral presentations, including grant funding recommendations, evaluation findings, and impact assessments.
  • Ensure projects remain on track by monitoring progress, reviewing reports, and making necessary modifications in accordance with established grant terms and agreements.
  • Build open and consistent relationships with nonprofit organizations to provide ongoing support, serve as a thought partner, and assist with navigating challenges and building meaningful connections.
  • Conduct site visits to observe funded projects and strengthen relationships with grant partners.
  • Pursue opportunities to advance community health beyond grantmaking through collaborative initiatives, convenings, and informal gatherings. 
  • Foster connections and maintain open communication with other health funders, policymakers, community partners, and essential stakeholders to align efforts and strengthen impact. 
  • Keep current on health issues of importance to the Foundation through literature review, engagement with social and professional communities, and participation in relevant conferences and professional development opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with the program team throughout application, review, and post-award periods to ensure a seamless experience for Foundation partners. Assist with the collection, tracking, and analysis of funding and impact data.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five to seven years’ experience in a relevant field, which could include but is not limited to nonprofit leadership, social work, public or community health, philanthropy, policy, or advocacy.
  • Writing ability that is clear, concise, and analytic in style.
  • Communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with a wide and diverse population.
  • Effective project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and effectively manage workflow to meet deadlines. High level of flexibility and responsiveness with the ability to shift priorities quickly as organizational needs require.
  • Genuine interest in continuous learning about the field of philanthropy, salient health issues, and the systems, structures, and policies impacting community health and the nonprofit sector.

Expected of all staff:

  • Uphold professional values congruent with the values of the Pallottine Foundation of Huntington.
  • Preserve a high level of discretion in maintaining confidentiality as it relates to the Foundation’s partners and decision making.
  • Work collaboratively with the team while also taking initiative on assigned tasks in leading the strategy of the Foundation forward. Assist in special projects or other duties as determined necessary.
  • Maintain relationships/memberships in appropriate professional organizations and participate in conferences and meetings to further professional and skill development. 
  • Travel, as required, in the Foundation catchment areas.

Compensation and Benefits:

This position offers a salary range of $75,000 - $85,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on the candidate's skills and experience.
