Background

Established in 2011, the Ohio Regional Convergence Partnership (ORCP) has leveraged collective tools from foundations across the state of Ohio to support equitable change in health access and policy, with a particular focus on working together to strengthen understanding of and advocacy for issues of health access and equity across Ohio. These grants are available as part of the Ohio Regional Convergence Partnership (ORCP) pooled fund, managed by Philanthropy Ohio, to provide professional development funds to Ohio nonprofit organizations seeking to build skills, knowledge and capacity in health access and equity public policy work.

Philanthropy Ohio is a statewide membership organization of philanthropic funders. Our mission is to lead and equip Ohio philanthropy to be effective partners for change in our communities. Our members include foundations, corporate giving programs and other funders and individuals actively involved in philanthropy in Ohio. Together, our members hold over $50 billion in assets and provide over $4 billion in grants annually to nonprofit organizations.

Advocacy is a critical component of Philanthropy Ohio’s work. As the leading voice for Ohio philanthropy, we prioritize four areas of policy: the strength of the charitable sector, education, health and housing. Philanthropy Ohio is recognized as a national and state leader in advocacy. We believe our public policy work is integral to strengthening philanthropy’s work and the communities they support. Along with our members, we engage in state policy advocacy to build a just and vibrant Ohio through impactful philanthropy. Our focus on health policy, centered in equity, has been a mainstay of our work since 2011.

Scope of Work

The fund will support professional development activities with grants of up to $5,000 to Ohio nonprofits seeking to grow their capacity and skills in health access and equity public policy efforts. Funds can be used for training, certifications, courses, conferences and similar activities. Funds must be used by November 30, 2026, with a one-page final report due by December 30, 2026.

Eligibility

Ohio-based nonprofits are eligible to apply for the grant; preference will be given to small or grassroots organizations that have limited capacity to achieve policy goals. Applications will be evaluated and prioritized based on demonstrated need, alignment with the grant’s focus on health access and equity, as well as the organization’s current capacity to engage in policy work.
