The United Philanthropy Forum shared updates on the latest federal actions affecting philanthropy and nonprofits, along with advocacy tools for collective action. Then attendees discussed how to support grantees and local communities as the federal government shutdown and other recent federal policy changes are impacting critical programs in Ohio, including SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, Head Start, health care and more. 

The November Health Policy Table featured a presentation from Interim Director Tia Marcell Moretti on the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health's key priorities to ensure access to quality behavioral health care for all Ohioans, including state and regional efforts focused on youth mental health, crisis stabilization, the behavioral health workforce and more.

The Strengthening Governance and Equity in the RFP Process program shared ways to navigate the process of selecting an investment consultant, gave practical insights into the essential components of the Request for Proposal (RFP) process and offered guidance on structuring your RFP to attract qualified firms that align with your long-term vision with guest presenters from Highland Consulting Associates, Inc.

The November Education Policy Table featured Learn to Earn Dayton's innovative dashboard tools with key cradle-to-career data, including academic data for all 611 districts in Ohio and comparative community data; and discussion of how you can use data to advance state and local policies that lead to better outcomes for Ohio’s students.

The November Housing Policy Table featured presentations on Rocket Community Fund's initiatives to support housing stability through property tax foreclosure prevention, home repair and pathways to homeownership, including Cleveland’s “Make it Home” program; and the Hamilton County Clerk of Court's Help Center pilot project and partnerships to provide same-day legal representation for tenants and its efforts to mitigate the harmful impacts of evictions.

This exclusive, data-driven publication provides a comprehensive overview of compensation and benefits within Ohio’s philanthropic sector. The 2025 Midwest Grantmaker Salary, Benefits & Demographics Report offers benchmarking for compensation metrics specific to Midwest funders. These reports are available exclusively to Philanthropy Ohio members, who are encouraged to use them in conjunction with other data sources to inform their staff salary decisions and planning.

Kerri Mollard from Mollard Consulting presented this session on the power dynamics funders navigate on a regular basis from various sources – a donor, a legacy volunteer or a major funder. We discussed power dynamics, acknowledged realities and reviewed current research on the topic.
